Event Steward Physical Intervention training

Delivered at your venue, this 1/2 day course (4 hours) can also be delivered in the evenings or at weekends to accomodate external committments stadium stewards may have. This course can be extended to include additional topics if required.

The course typically covers:

  • The use of force
  • Avoiding and detection of positional asphyxia
  • Instruction and practice of low risk physical intervention techniques
  • Instruction and practice of high risk (advanced) physical intervention techniques

The low level techniques are the same as those delivered on an SIA Door Supervisors Course and this course is an ideal SIA refresher. This course also teaches advanced techniques (beyond that taught on SIA training) so that staff can deal with those people displaying violent behaviour in a safe way.

There is no mandatory training for those with SIA licenses. However, there is a legal obligation on the employer under Health and Safety at Work legislation to ensure that training is repeated periodically in order to keep staff and others safe. This course addresses this.

All successful candidates will be awarded a certificate. Refresher training should be completed annually.

Other topics that can be covered include:

  • Powers of arrest
  • Powers to eject and trespass
  • Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Human Rights legislation
  • Notebook rules and giving evidence
