Managing Director & Lead Trainer
Andy established Intelligensa in 2013, following a distinguished career as a senior officer in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).
Throughout his service, Andy delivered training for Police Officers, Community Support Officers (PCSO's) and custody staff in physical restraint techniques, handcuffing, use of batons, etc. He has extensive professional experience of conflict management, restraint, handcuffing, breakaway and self defence, which is an essential tool to enhance and facilitate the learning experience.
Andy provides advice to clients on the law regarding the Use of Force, reducing risk, Positive Handling, Control & Restraint, Conflict Management, personal safety and much more.
He is a martial artist with a black belt 2nd Dan in Shotokan Karate.

Our trainers come from a variety of public sector backgrounds
You can rest assured knowing that our trainers are all fully qualified to teach, with a minimum of a PTLLS, AET or equivalent teaching qualification. In addition they have the following subject specific qualifications:
- BTEC Level 3 Advanced Physical Restraint
- BTEC Level 3 Conflict Management
- BTEC Level 3 Advanced Risk Assessment and Risk Management
- BTEC Level 3 Advanced Self Defence
- BTEC Level 3 Physical intervention for the security industry
- BTEC Level 3 Handcuffing
- Multiple First Aid qualifications
Our training is delivered through a combination of PowerPoint presentations, group discussion, observation of videos, demonstrations, role plays (short courses may not include all elements) and where the course includes it, instruction and practice of safe holding, breakaway and physical intervention techniques.
We teach in compliance with NHS and DfE Guidance. All the physical intervention techniques taught have been independently medically risk assessed and incorporate techniques taught within the BILD guidelines.
We are affiliated to, licensed by and quality assured by the National Federation for Personal Safety (NFPS). We are an awarding body with Highfield Qualifications and Qualsafe Awards offering Ofqual Regulated Qualifications. We deliver BTEC courses by Pearson Edxcel, are members of the Institute of Conflict Management (ICM) and recommended trainers on www.carehome.co.uk.
