Heaven London Night Club Case Study
ELC Securities and Heaven London retain Intelligensa as their physical intervention training provider for their door supervisors
About Heaven – Heaven London is one of the world’s most famous gay night clubs.
The Challenge - Heaven employ ELC Securities as their security team. With over 25 years of experience, they pride themselves on their professionalism with a reputation for dedication to service and to strive to continually improve. Following a violent incident whereby a customer needed to be restrained, they realised that there was a need to refresh their training and ensure that all staff were trained in the same techniques.
The Solution - With its experienced and qualified instructors, Intelligensa was able to provide the high quality training that the Door Supervisors required. The staff were trained in conflict management, how much force is reasonable within the law as well as practical physical intervention skills that could be used, including positional asphyxia.
To ensure their own safety and welfare and protect others involved, Intelligensa advised the staff of their duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Intelligensa also reinforced the need to take reasonable steps to protect an individual's life as outlined in Article 2 of the Human Rights Act.
The Result – All staff members performing door supervision were more knowledgeable and confident on how much physical restraint they could deploy and how to avoid serious injury that positional asphyxia could cause. Furthermore, after just three months the club has seen a significant fall in the number of ejections and asked for further training. Intelligensa have since returned to the club, training the staff in more conflict management skills and some advanced restraint techniques.
