BILD ACT RRN Certified Physical Intervention, PMVA, Control & Restraint and Managing Challenging Behaviour Training Courses

The NHS statutory training requirement

Training in Physical Intervention (PMVA) must be BILD ACT Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) certified. i.e. If your staff are working with service users who may require physical interventions & you are commissioned by the NHS, you must have BILD ACT certified training.

 This applies to permanent, temporary and agency staff.

The CQC statutory training requirement

Training in Physical Intervention (PMVA) must be BILD ACT Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) certified. i.e. If your staff are working with service users who may require physical interventions & the setting is subject to CQC inspection, you must have BILD ACT certified training.

 This applies to permanent, temporary and agency staff.

The Agency Framework training requirement

Staff are now required to complete BILD ACT Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) certified Physical Intervention training, & must be able to provde a current certificate of competence. This applies to  any staff member working in NHS commisissioned or CQC inspected services, who may have to use physical interventions (PMVA).

Who the course is suitable for:

  • This BILD ACT RRN certified course meets the statutory training requirements for NHS and CQC regulated settings
  • All settings, both high and low risk
  • Social care services
  • Adult education settings
  • Children's homes and education settings
  • Temporary, Agency and permanent staff

 

What the course covers:

  1. Positive Behaviour Support
  2. ​Managing Challenging Behaviour with Breakaway skills
  3. Physical Intervention training (restraint)​​

 

Duration:

Initial training - 3 days, subject to Training Needs Analysis (TNA)

 

Refresher training - 1 day, subject to (TNA), within 12 months of initial course

 

Physical Intervention, PMVA, Control and Restraint Training - not certified

All settings except NHS, CQC & Agencies

Who the course is suitable for:

  • Both high and low risk settings
  • Challenging environments
  • Adult education settings
  • Children's homes and education settings
  • Not for NHS/CQC regulated settings who have a statutory requirement to have BILD ACT RRN certified training

 

 

What the course covers:

  1. Managing Challenging Behaviour with Breakaway skills
  2. Physical Intervention training (restraint)

 

 

Duration:

Initial training - 1 or 2 days depending on setting

 

 

Refresher training - 1 day, recommended annually

 

 

Managing Challenging Behaviour 

and Breakaway Training

All settings

Who the course is suitable for:

  • Low risk settings where the use of restrictive physical interventions (restraint) is not required and therefore BILD ACT RRN certified training does not apply
  • Social care services
  • Adult education settings
  • Children's homes and education settings

 

 

What the course covers:

  1. ​Managing Challenging Behaviour with Breakaway skills

 

 

 

Duration:

Initial training - 1 day

 

 

Refresher training - 1 day, recommended annually

 

All training is delivered with a constant emphasis on restraint reduction and preventative strategies. We will work with your team to teach Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Managing Challenging Behaviour, De-escalation, Breakaway Techniques, and how to use Restrictive Physical Interventions (restraint techniques) to safely hold people at risk of harming themselves or others. 

 

We are certified trainers for the BILD ACT Restraint Reduction Network (RRN).

All our staff hold teaching and subject specific qualifications. We are affiliated to, licensed by and quality assured by the National Federation for Personal Safety (NFPS). We are an awarding body with Qualsafe Awards delivering Ofqual regulated Qualifications and are members of the Institute of Conflict Management (ICM).
