Course)
The course covers all aspects of how to prevent and manage violence and aggression
(PMVA), including:
- Conflict Management and de-escalation skills
- Recognising what happens to the human body when experiencing fear
- Understanding the law regarding the use of force under Common Law and Section 3(1)(a) Criminal Law Act

- Manual Handling Regulations
- Health and Safety at

Regulations
- Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act
- Breakaway and self defence techniques (if applicable)
- Practice of low level physical intervention techniques
- Practice of high risk (advanced) restrictive physical intervention techniques
- The medical implications of using handcuffs and soft restraints
- Avoiding and detection of positional asphyxia
- How to apply the handcuffs and soft-cuffs to a passive subject
- How to apply the handcuffs and soft-cuffs to an aggressive subject
- How to remove handcuffs and soft-cuffs safely
All successful delegates will receive a certificate. Annual refresher
training required.
