Two Day Positive Handling Course

Delivered at your venue this course is for 2 x 6-hour training days.

Day 1 content:

• Positive Behaviour Support, understanding the reasons for behaviours, so we can better meet people's needs, enhance their quality of life, and reduce the likelihood of the behaviour happening
• Managing behaviour that challenges, using de-escalation techniques and strategies
• The use of force

Day 2 content:

• Department for Education guidance for the use of force on children
• Clarification of techniques that should not be used following DfE guidelines
• The Human Rights Act
• The Health & Safety at Work Act
• Avoiding and detecting positional asphyxia
• The Education and Inspections Act
• Instruction and practice of: safe holding, low level physical intervention, positive handling techniques

All delegates successfully completing the course will receive a certificate. Refresher training should be completed annually.
